Radiofrequency neurotomy is an effective procedure for pain relief. Radiofrequency generated heat is used to target specific nerve to temporarily interfere pain signal transmission. The radio waves are projected to the target nerves via needles inserted through the skin. Although this procedure is not completely devoid of adverse effects, the use of ‘pulsed radiofrequency’ can mitigate those risks.
