Acquired neuromyotonia is a rare autoimmune disorder characterized by hyperexcitability of peripheral motor nerves. Patients experience progressive muscle stiffness, cramping, increased sweating, and delayed muscle relaxation. Symptoms may persist even during sleep or under general anesthesia. The diagnosis is confirmed by electromyography but the optimum treatment strategy has not much evolved.
