In recent years, exosomes got tremendous importance in research for the purpose of diagnosis of multiple diseases. Exosomes are nothing but vesicles secreted by cells into the extracellular fluids such as blood and urine. These vesicles are like hollow spherical container surrounded by lipid layer just like as cell. Exosomes are important because they carry bio-active molecules (proteins, lipids, and microRNAs) secreted by one cell that can influence other distant or adjacent cells.
Exosomes secreted by cancer cells promote invasiveness and metastatic potential in recipient cells. Detection of Exosomes in Laboratory assays (sample: plasma/ urine): ELISA (detects exosome specific marker protein) FACS (Flow cytometry) Electron microscopy Do you think exosomes have potential to be used in disease diagnosis in future?
