Corneal blindness remains one of the leading causes of vision loss in India, yet a significant gap persists between the number of patients in need and the availability of donor corneas. Expanding eye donations is therefore critical to address this shortage and provide timely treatment. At the same time, advances in corneal transplantation, including improved surgical techniques, lamellar approaches, and tissue preservation methods, are enhancing outcomes and broadening access to care.
