Printers are being used in the field of biotechnology with applications ranging from printing cells to printing entire organs. One such example is the printing of retinal cells using inkjet printer which has been discussed below. British researchers have used an inkjet printer to successfully print retinal cells for the first time, in what could be a breakthrough for the treatment of optic nerve injury and diseases like glaucoma. The world-first, detailed in a paper published in the journal Biofabrication, is just a small step, but it could eventually lead to the ability to produce artificial tissue grafts that could cure blindness.
