A physician in Maharashtra’s Sangli district became the victim of an elaborate heist when a group of four individuals, posing as income tax officials, allegedly robbed him of jewelry and cash valued at nearly Rs. 2 crore. The incident occurred late Sunday evening when the group, which included one woman, arrived at the doctor’s residence. Flashing official-looking identification, they claimed they were there to conduct a search. Believing them to be genuine officers, the physician allowed them inside.
Over the next hour, the impostors combed through the house as well as the adjoining hospital premises. By the time they left, they had taken valuables from both locations.
