According to the World Health Organization (WHO), of the total 50 million people suffering from epilepsy worldwide, 80% belong to developing countries. Although epilepsy is curable, the required treatment is not received by 3/4th of the affected people in developing countries. In India, around 10 million people suffer from epilepsy-associated seizures. The 17th of November is annually observed, therefore, as National Epilepsy Day in India to help increase awareness about the condition.
