GI disorder is an umbrella term covering an array of diseases related to the gut. This may include GERD, diarrhea, IBS, IBD, abdominal pain syndrome and much more. Following are the ten useful recommendations from American Gastroenterological Association that should be followed in diagnosis and therapy of gastroenterological disorders.

Recommendation 1: Long-term PPI or H-2 blockers For pharmacological treatment of patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), long-term therapy with proton pump inhibitors or histamine2 receptor antagonists for acid suppression should be titrated to the lowest effective dose needed to achieve therapeutic goals.
