Given the necrosis and degeneration of the liver in cirrhosis, it often presents with several complications. Treating individuals with cirrhosis for related complications needs high vigilance with respect to the risks and benefits involved. This becomes further crucial when there is a need for a liver transplant. Here, we summarize a rare case study of a patient suffering from recurring abdominal distention while waiting for a liver transplant, who was treated using a “wait and watch” strategy.

Case presentation  A 55-year-old man presented with recurrent abdominal distension.
