Glucose control during hemodialysis 65 years old Mr Ram, has been on hemodialysis since last 1 year. He developed end-stage renal disease due to long-standing type 2 diabetes mellitus. During his last dialysis, he had an episode of generalized tonic-clonic seizure, at which point his dialysis was immediately stopped and was stabilized. His capillary glucose measured with the glucometer showed severe hypoglycemia (Glucose=26mg/dl). He was treated with IV Dextrose and was stabilized. Now the questions which come to mind are could this be avoided?
