Hospital born infections can pose a high risk to patients as well as doctors. Poor sanitization, lack of amendment of hygiene protocol, shortage of staff and infrastructure remain the major problems in government healthcare sectors. Assessment of these parameters and following preventive measures forms the base to avoid these infections. Hospital-born infection are those which are acquired in the health care facility.
These are associated with bacteria, virus and fungal pathogens. These infections can spread through susceptible patient, health care staff or it could also spread through contaminated equipment, bed linens, or air droplets. According to a survey conducted in Uttar Pradesh 70 % of government health facilities are at high risk if hospital-associated infections.
