Anemia, is a condition that develops due to reduced blood hemoglobin content, abnormal RBC count. It is a sign of disease progression rather than being the disease itself. Symptoms like fatigue, shortness of breath, dizziness, etc are indicatives of anemia. Anemia in women is a major public health issue with high prevalence because of under-diagnosis.

Even though the RBC are made within the bone marrow, iron is very important for the hemoglobin molecule and the formation of RBCs. Iron-deficiency anemia is most common worldwide. The main causes involve blood loss during menstruation, pregnancy, B vitamin deficiency, gastrointestinal lesion or infections, etc. The anemic condition needs to be monitored to avoid serious health hazards.
