AS soon as I switched on TV - the news caught my attention. Doctor operate on wrong limb. A patient who had fractured his ankle was operated in one of the five star hospitals in Delhi and when he regained consiousness he was appaled to see the healthy limb has been operated.It was height of negligence. This was not and emergencey case but a planned surgery as the patient had already been applied splint on fractured limb few days back. I started thinking how could this happen? and whose fault is this?
There is no doubt that the responsibility lies on doctor and he will be punished and taken to task. But is this really doctor's fault or a vicarious responsibilty.
