On 21st April, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) had called for a White Alert on 22nd April and the observance of a Black Day on 23rd April to protest against the violence and discrimination faced by medical practitioners treating COVID-19 patients. After a video conference with Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan, the IMA has decided to withdraw its two-day protest . The action was called by the IMA after several incidents of harassment, abuse, violence, spitting, stone pelting, and eviction against medical practitioners in India were brought to light.
