There was an article in Business Standard News which stated that about 3 in 1000 patients with coronary heart disease get treated by Angioplasty. This was recorded in a survey by National Interventional Council (NIC). According to this survey, by end of 2015 about 61.5 million people in India will suffer from coronary heart diseases. Now, although there is a rise in the number of cases recorded, there has been very little progress in the development and implementation of different interventions designed for treatment of these diseases.
For instance, it was 22% in 2013 and has gone down to 14% by end of 2014. Particularly, use of stents in treatment has gone to 18% in 2014 from 22% in 2013.
