Chronic kidney disease is a known risk factor for adverse short and long-term outcomes after vascular surgery. A new study has pointed out an association between kidney disease and cardiovascular-specific mortality after vascular surgery. Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is independently linked with additional 30-day mortality, with as much as 4.7 times the risk for postoperative death in patients undergoing thoracoabdominal and abdominal aortic repairs compared with patients with no kidney disease.

Chronic kidney disease is also a risk factor for 1-year mortality after peripheral vascular mediations.
