Post-acne erythema is a common aesthetic sequela in patients with acne , yet the clinical efficacy of intradermal botulinum toxin A remains controversial. To address this gap, a study evaluated and compared the efficacy and safety of intradermal botulinum toxin A and broadband light therapy in patients with post-acne erythema, involving 30 patients. The study found no significant differences in baseline characteristics between the two groups.
At the 1-month follow-up, the intradermal botulinum toxin A group showed significantly greater reductions in clinical erythema area (CEA), erythema index, a* value, and sebum secretion compared with the broadband light group. The reduction in sebum secretion remained significantly greater at both 2 and 3 months, with additional significant improvements in CEA at 2 months and a* value at 3 months. Both groups demonstrated improvements from baseline…
