Objective: The aim of this study were to ascertain the prevalence of nocturnal enuresis and the predominant factors associated with this in children aged 5-14 years. Method: In the study, 1200 children were chosen from an area with a socio-economic level of poor in Northern Afghanistan. A questionnaire was applied to mothers by face to face. DSM-IV definition of enuresis was used. Results: 25% of 5 years old, 12 % of 10-year-olds have bedwetting problems at least once a month.

Of the enuretic cases 68% was active enuresis and 32% was remission enuresis. In this study we also investigated the frequency, demographic and sociocultural characteristics of enuresis nocturna cases in children aged 5-14 years in Northern Afghanistan.
