According to a report published in the Journal of Intellectual Disability, there is a strong connection between the pollution level and intellectual disability. 18000 students born in UK between 2000 to 2002 were studied in a cohort study.
It was observed that amongst children with intellectual disabilities, 33% were more likely to live in areas with high particulate matter, 30% in areas with high amount of carbon dioxide and 17% in areas with high levels of sulphur dioxide. Source: Science Daily
