Since past, a lot of stress is laid on prescribing of generic drugs. There is administrative as well as political pressure on doctors for their prescribing, despite a number of drawbacks. On the other hand, the news from different states appeared in media from time to time that hospital supply of medicines which is distributed free to patients are of poor quality, substandard and spurious.Quality control of generic drugs needs to be monitored. In both these cases, doctors are blamed for getting kickbacks from pharmaceutical companies for not prescribing generic medicines and supply of poor quality of medicines from the hospital.
Patients are the sufferers in both these cases. I think if prescribing of generic drugs is mandatory then government must ensure good quality control of generic drugs and drugs of hospital supply. What is your opinion? Kindly share.
