Several recent clinical findings in the field of dentistry and oral hygiene have associated oral health to cardiovascular health. Specific bacteria from dental infections- including periodontal disease, abscessed teeth, and failing endodontics- have been proven to cause cardiovascular disease. Moreover, dentists who have treated same patients for a long time have confirmed these findings. Therefore, dentists now have the additional responsibility of not only helping patients maintain good oral hygiene but also potentially saving their lives from dreadful cardiovascular diseases.
