A team of doctors from the Ibn Sina Hospital, Kuwait successfully removed a 7-cm brain tumor from a 39-year-old patient using a unique surgical navigator device called 'Curve'. The technique used in the surgery is the first of its kind in Kuwait and the third in the Gulf region. According to the Head of Neurosurgery at the Ibn Sina Hospital, the tumor was located in a sensitive part of the brain, and therefore the surgery was challenging and critical.
However, the doctors used the navigator device to convert multiple two-dimensional images of the brain into a complete three-dimensional image that was similar to the brain anatomy of the patient. This technique also allowed the surgeons to accurately locate the tumor inside the brain without exposing or damaging the sensitive brain tissues, thereby avoiding any further complication and ensuring complete safety of the patient.
