Pneumonia caused by COVID-19 may lead to acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), similar to that caused by the Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) or severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV). The present article focuses on the changes in chest CT findings from the initial diagnosis to the recovery of patients with COVID-19 pneumonia. Several recent studies have demonstrated that CT scans of patients with COVID-19 reveal clear destruction of the pulmonary parenchyma, interstitial inflammation, and extensive consolidation in their CT findings.
