Although relatively unknown, late cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection can occur following a transplant procedure. There are two forms of late CMV disease that essentially occur six months after transplant. This article describes a case of CMV infection, which occurred almost ten years after a kidney transplant. Case scenario     A 60-year-old man was presented with flu-like illness with fever, malaise, muscle aches, headache, and a non-productive cough. The patient reported that the onset of these illnesses was approximately a month ago.
