Dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors have gained extensive importance as effective antidiabetic drugs in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Linagliptin, the most recent additions to incretin-based therapies have demonstrated adequate efficacy, a favorable safety profile, especially cardiovascular and renal safety.
