According to a new study published in Diabetes Care, adults with diabetes who adhere to the recommended physical activity guidelines can avoid the risk of mortality associated with prolonged sitting. This study is the first to demonstrate that sufficient exercise can mitigate the increased mortality risk associated with extended periods of sitting, even among diabetic individuals. The researchers have analyzed data from the 2007-2018 National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys (NHANES), tracking individuals aged 20 or older with diabetes to determine their mortality status through 2019.
