Studies indicate that liquid biopsy has the potential not only to diagnose but follow up the treatment of many cancer types, including breast cancer. Liquid biopsy offers several advantages over traditional biopsy. A liquid biopsy is easier to perform, can be performed multiple times, noninvasive and hence low-risk procedure, and it provides an overall picture of the tumor which is contrary to the traditional biopsy method. This article reports the outcomes of the two studies which validated the accuracy of liquid biopsy to diagnose breast cancer in patients younger than 50 years in conjunction with breast imaging.
