A rare and potentially life-threatening airway emergency in a one-year-old child was successfully managed by the ENT team at Government Maharaja Yashwantrao Hospital (MYH), Indore, after a live ornamental fish became lodged in the child’s throat during a household aquarium cleaning incident. According to reports, the incident occurred on April 3, when the child’s older siblings were cleaning the family aquarium and handling ornamental fish collected in a net. During the activity, one of the fish reportedly jumped unexpectedly and entered the toddler’s mouth while he was laughing. The child was immediately rushed to MYH for emergency care.
