Interestingly, the majority of living donors in India are women. The data received from 2008-2017 shows that women constitute 74% of kidney donors and for liver surgeries, women are 60.5% of the donors. The proportion of women donors is markedly higher in India than in the U.S., which performs the highest number of living donor organ transplants (LDOTs) in the world.
