Hodgkins lymphoma (HL) accounts for a little less than 1% of all cancers globally. It occurrence is distributed between two distinct age group: 15 to 35 years or after 55 years of age. According to Mumbai Cancer registry incidence of HL is about 1 per 100,000 population for men and 0.5 per 100,000 population for women. Among Indian children, HL is the fourth more common malignancy after acute lymphoblastic leukemia, brain tumors, and retinoblastoma.
With the currently available treatment modalities (multiagent chemotherapy either alone or in conjunction with low-dose involved field radiation therapy) and the use of risk-adapted therapy, over 90% of children diagnosed with HL are long-term survivors.
