There has been a steady increase in the number of congenital heart disease (CHD) cases as more and more patients are being operated at a younger age. Interestingly, in comparison to western countries, the Grown-up congenital heart (GUCH) disease population in India is predominantly comprised of unoperated CHD as compared to operated CHD. Adult CHD is recording higher incidences than ever due to increased medical and surgical interventions among the pediatric population.
