Now, government doctors serving in rural areas are also eligible for incentive marks, thanks to MCI’s amendments in the PG Medical Education Regulations, 2000. Till date, the incentive marks were given only to the government doctors working in hilly and remote areas. This move has brought much relief to government doctors. The marks will be added to NEET score and the final rank will be based on that.

However, Non-service doctors have expressed disappointment over the MCI’s move stating that “We did not expect this from the MCI. Like last year, this year also 98% of the seats would go to service doctors. Meritorious candidates across the country will be affected. We will certainly represent our grievance to MCI,” (New Indian Express, 9 April 2018) Source: New Indian Express
