In India, we need urgently revamping of the whole system of medical education from the selection of the students, syllabus, teaching, examination system, certification, medical teachers training, updating by teachers and other faculties and CME to make every doctor up-to-date. Even in the postings of doctors in medical colleges are mostly handled biased. What is the remedy? Selection of students should not only be based on NEET but also about the mental balance to undergo the course.
Otherwise, we come across a lot of suicides among both under and postgraduate students in India of late. The syllabus should be as per the need of our country and not intended for exporting our graduates to other countries. For example, I had a case of hypothyroidism in 2006, not diagnosed by seven to eight doctors including a cardiologist who heads the dept and a neurologist working as Prof of Medicine.…
