All these sensitivity toothpaste ads are making people think they are better than normal toothpaste. People who come to me for check up, many of them say that they are using the 'special sensitivity toothpaste' even though they don't have any sensitivity issue. People are even using them as first line of treatment for senstivity even without dentist recommendation. They don't understand how important it is to understand the cause behind the problem and to cure it.
So they end up later to more complex and expensive treatment like RCT as these toothpastes end up suppressing the symptoms of the problem without treating the cause till it becomes worse. These advertisements should be stopped in public interest and people should be made aware. What do guys think?
