Violence against doctors by patients’ relatives has been on the rise again. In a case of assault on a doctor, a group of around 40 people abducted a doctor and assaulted him soon after a patient passed away in a private hospital at Deralakatte, Mangaluru. In the latest incident, Yenepoya Medical College Assistant Professor was reportedly assaulted and dragged from 6th floor of the hospital building to the main gate. The attackers alleged the doctor for medical negligence for a death of a 65-year-old patient after 8 hours of admission with extensive cellulitis.

According to the reports, the assistant professor was also abducted after the attack. Eyewitnesses said that, “The doctor was bundled into a van and taken away, but his colleagues chased and intercepted the van”.
