Stroke is the second largest cause of mortality globally, with every one in four individuals affected by it once in their lifetime. Moreover, the incidence of stroke is increasing at an alarming rate worldwide in young and middle-aged people (<55 years). Besides, it is also the leading cause of non-communicable diseases like depression and dementia. However, 90% of strokes can be prevented by focusing on the risk factors, which include hypertension, atrial fibrillation, and smoking.
Largescale efforts are needed to avoid deaths and disability caused by stroke and to improve brain health, quality of life, and socioeconomic productivity globally.
