A consensus committee of 55 international experts has recently updated 2012 Surviving Sepsis Campaign (SSC) guidelines for managing the severe sepsis and septic shock. The current article focuses on the updated recommendations on the management of the severe sepsis and septic shock in clinical settings . Recommendations and best practice statements of these guidelines are:- Initial Resuscitation: Being sepsis and septic shock are medical emergencies, treatment should begin immediately. In sepsis-induced hypoperfusion, at least 30 mL/kg of IV crystalloid fluid is given within the first 3 hours.
