Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are defined as chronic diseases that are generally slow in progression. Moreover, the prevalence of non-communicable diseases is showing an upward trend in most countries and India is not an exception. This article outlines the current challenges, solutions, and initiatives regarding noncommunicable disease in India. NCDs are the leading cause of death in the world and responsible for 63% deaths worldwide. According to a national survey report in 2008, NCDs accounts for 53 percent of deaths in India.
