B‐type natriuretic peptide (BNP) and its N‐ terminal fragment (NT-proBNP) are the initial diagnostic test used in India to diagnose, assess the severity and prognosis of HF. 2,3 NT-proBNP is recognized as a gold standard biomarker in HF 4 Biologically inert NT-proBNP peptide is a more stable biomarker for HF than active BNP hormone which gets degraded in the body much faster.
