Obesity is identified as one of the most challenging issues of the 21st century by the World Health Organization. Globally, the prevalence of childhood obesity is increasing alarmingly, and predictions of the future leave little room for optimism if we do not change our course of action with immediate effect. Moreover, obesity also increases the risk for other non-communicable diseases and many medical complications, including insulin resistance, cardiovascular diseases, and osteoarthritis, to name a few. New risk factors are being included every day for COVID-19 with obesity entering the spotlight recently.
