Obesity has a rising prevalence in developing and developed nations. According to WHO, 39% of the world population over the age of 18 is overweight, with 13% of them being obese. Obesity is closely associated with cardiovascular problems, dyslipidemia, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and sleep disturbances. Obesity, like other cardiovascular risk factors, contributes to the development of cardiovascular disease and related mortality. Imaging methods for evaluating body composition, particularly visceral adiposity, have also advanced significantly.
