Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a long-lasting autoimmune disease with limited treatment options. Rheumatoid arthritis does not have known cure, but the treatment options can slow the progress and improve the symptoms. Olokizumab is one such therapy which is currently undergoing phase II trials. The scientists from the USA recently presented the data that was extracted from open-label extension (OLE) studies of phase II trials of patients with western and Asian RA. The data suggests that olokizumab is potent in the long-term treatment and provides favorable results.
The patients in these trials have been on methotrexate and failed anti-tumor necrosis factor (TNF) therapy. .
