According to a recent survey, Indian doctors are now increasingly asking patients to take genetic tests to identify mutations which help them diagnose rare genetic diseases better. Not only the genetic tests maximize the chance of cure but also help in planning better therapeutic options. However, they are very expensive and in a country like India- where only a few people are insured- the majority of patients cannot afford them.
