Orofacial granulomatosis (OFG) is characterized by non-necrotizing granulomatous inflammation involving the oral cavity and maxillofacial area. It clinically presents as labial enlargement, perioral and mucosal swelling. On intraoral examination oral ulcers and histological and pathological changes in gingival condition are seen. The lesion shows cobblestone appearance of the buccal mucosa which is the characteristic feature. The etiological factors include food substances and additives, dental materials.

The various microbiological agents have also been associated with the disease. There is also significant role of delayed hypersensitivity, but the exact antigen causing this immunological reaction varies from person to person.
