OMAN Operative or assisted vaginal delivery (OVD) refers to the use of an instrument to facilitate a vaginal delivery of a fetus. It can be performed by using a vacuum device or forceps. Cesarean section (C-Section) birth rates have been rising globally in recent years, and OVD is considered a viable option for lowering C-Section birth rates and morbidities associated with it. The incidence and effects of OVDs in Oman are unknown.

Researchers from the Sultan Qaboos University Hospital (SQUH) conducted a retrospective study to evaluate the impact of OVDs on maternal and neonatal outcomes.
