Flat foot or pes planus is having flat feet, or 'fallen arches', meaning the feet has low or no arches and press almost completely flat against the ground. In most cases, patients are unaware of their condition and complain pain after activity. This article provides a general overview of this condition and management options. Loss of general medial longitudinal arch leads to pes planus (flat foot) which can be flexible or rigid. This condition is nothing hyper-pronation or from increased eversion of the subtalar joint.

Generally, infants have a minimal arch and toddlers have flattening of the long arch, forefoot pronation, and heel valgus on weight bearing pediatric population.
