Impaired mineral homeostasis affecting calcium, phosphate, and magnesium is a result of parathyroid hormone (PTH) deficiency in hypoparathyroidism. Parathyroid hormone, (PTH) is an adjunct drug to calcium and vitamin D to control hypocalcemia in patients with hypoparathyroidism. The current article highlights the potential role of this recently approved FDA drug. Hypoparathyroidism is an endocrine disorder characterized by insufficient levels of PTH.
