Childhood obesity remains a mounting concern, and new research highlights the outsized influence of parental knowledge, attitudes, and practices ( KAP ) in shaping health outcomes among preschoolers. In a survey of over 400 single-child families , structural modeling showed that higher parental socioeconomic status directly improved parental KAP and, significantly, was linked to lower BMI z-scores and body fat percentages in children. These beneficial effects were particularly marked in boys. The findings emphasize the pivotal role of empowering parents through targeted education and supportive policies to prevent early childhood obesity and foster long-term healthy habits.
