Routinely done TFT in a 26 yrs old antenatal patient in her second trimester, showed values suggestive of mild hypothyroidism { free T4 - 0.5 ng/dl(Normal - 0.8 to 2.5), TSH - 6.6 mIU/ml( Normal - 0.35 to 5.5)}. Following it, She was started on eltroxin 0.75 micrograms/day. TFT after 1 month showed normal values { TSH - 2.311, Total T4 - 9.9 ( Normal - 4.5 to 12.5) }.
Post delivery, she had discontinued the medications, TFT done showed the following ( 4 weeks post partum ) free T4 - 0.8 ng/dl , TSH - 7.66 mIU/ml ( elevated TSH suggestive of subclinical hypothyroidism?? ) What could be the possible cause? How to follow up the same?
