Denial to discharge patient or patient’s bodies can now land hospital or other healthcare institutes in trouble. According to PTI, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) prepared the patient charter draft that could land healthcare providers in trouble if the clauses mentioned in the draft are not followed. In a notice issued by the Joint Secretary, the ministry plans to implement the charter through state governments for the provision of proper health care by clinical establishments.

The charter mainly focuses on the fact that hospitals cannot withhold patient or patient’s body over payment issues.
